What kind of used phone should we buy?

1.We highly recommend purchasing a used phone with an unmodified motherboard and storage that has never undergone any repairs. When a motherboard repair is performed, there is a considerable risk of experiencing various issues, including automatic restarts, sluggish performance, or black screens. While the replacement or repair of phone components does not necessarily impact the overall lifespan of the device, we do have a selection of devices available for sale in our inventory that have undergone component repairs.

2.We strongly advise against purchasing phones that have had their back glass replaced at unauthorised repair shops. Specifically for iPhone users, when third-party back glass is used for replacement, it may lose the airtight seal of the device, increasing the risk of dust and moisture entering the internal components. This can result in phone malfunctions and potential damage to the rear camera due to dust accumulation. Furthermore, it's important to note that third-party glass has significantly lower durability compared to original glass.

3. Lastly, let's address the importance of battery health when purchasing a phone. We strongly recommend selecting a phone with a battery health of 80% or higher to ensure optimal all-day usage

It's important to note that iPhone users who choose the original battery can continue to check the battery health directly on the device, while those who opt for a third-party battery will not have the battery health displayed on the device. In terms of user experience, original batteries typically have an additional lifespan of six months to a year compared to third-party batteries. (Generally, we recommend replacing the battery every 2.5 to 3.5 years.)

For spare phone users:

For users seeking a spare phone, price is often the primary consideration. In such cases, we recommend considering phones with an unmodified motherboard and battery health of at least 70%. As long as these criteria are met, the phone can be considered within the suitable range.

Finally, it's important to note that there is a significant price difference between original screens and aftermarket screens. Some second-hand phone dealers, in order to maximise their profits, may replace the original screens on phones with fake screens, thus pocketing the price difference between the two. It is crucial to be aware that the price discrepancy between these two screen types can range from A$150 to A$250.
